The Library a la Carte will receive two American Library Association awards.
The Library a la Carte from which librarians provide library services to students from various locations across the campus has been selected to receive two awards from the American Library Association.
The battery-operated vehicle received the Community College Learning Resources Program Achievement Award for developing an innovative, significant learning resource/library program, which is a $300 award.
It also received the Learning Award for Excellence in Reference & Adult Library Services, a $3,000 cash award, for developing an imaginative and unique resource to meet patrons’ reference needs.
The cart offers students another option from which to obtain research assistance, instruction on using online resources, request books from other libraries, and return books. It was created to be a more visible Library while the Ozuna Library has been closed for renovation.
The “wrap” was designed by IIC Senior Multimedia Specialist Leroy Ibarra and installed by Thomas Reprographics before the start of Spring Semester.
The awards will be presented at the annual ALA Conference in June in Chicago.
